AFCC is the community based delivery model for each of the programs viz. Akshara, Aakaar, Setu & Aakar. These Community Centres are village based, brick and mortar centres set up with the help of village community.
In order to set up an AFCC, members of the Aureena Foundation (AF) identify a vulnerable village, primarily through reading content (news, vulnerability studies, etc.) available on the public domain, word of mouth, discussions with locals and various such methods. Once the village is identified, AF members undertake a transect walk of the village and list out observations, viz. types of communities, visible vulnerability, number of children in the intervention age group, immediate needs of the village children etc. and prepare a report of the same. Having prepared the report, a meeting with the Gram Sabha & the Sarpanch is held and the findings are shared, following which the AF intervention is discussed. Once the Gram Sabha gets to understand that AF will work for the betterment of their children, it agrees to lend out support to the cause and eventually takes ownership of the programme. The village community offers place i.e. a community hall, school premise, etc. to set up the centre. AF hires staff, provides for running costs, student stationery, resources & delivers the programme.
Beneficiary CoverageAdolescent children enrolled as students of locals schools in vicinity of the centres are the beneficiaries of this program, all children irrespective of caste, creed and gender are included and the program is absolutely free of cost for all children.
